Spinal Cord Injury
Our team members are very experienced in dealing with spinal cord injury that has occurred in combination with other injuries. So for example the patient may be highly dependent, perhaps even ventilated, perhaps with other injuries requiring extensive support with seating and other postural management equipment and hoisting. Typically this person will have a team of support workers looking after them. We can act as a specialist resource for that team, in relation to respiratory care, pressure management issues, and anything relating to the person's postural management, muscle tone and range of movement in their joints.
We can also offer advice to the more active spinally injured person, who is living independently in the community, and looking to extend their levels of activity, whilst learning how to conserve their joints in the process.
We feel it is very important to be seen in your home and community environments rather than in a clinic, so that we can help you as much as possible with your day-to-day routine and tailored exercise programme.
